Revision Ladder Terms and Conditions
Last updated: 4 October 2026
1. About these Terms
These Terms and Conditions govern your use of the Revision Ladder website, learning platform, learner profiles, educational resources and subscription services.
By creating an account, purchasing a subscription or using Revision Ladder, you agree to these Terms.
If you create or manage an account on behalf of a child, you agree to these Terms on your own behalf and are responsible for supervising that child's use of the platform.
Please read these Terms alongside our Privacy Notice and Cookie Policy.
Nothing in these Terms affects any legal rights you have as a consumer.
2. Who we are
Revision Ladder is an online educational revision and learning platform based in the United Kingdom.
Email: admin@revisionladder.co.uk
References to "Revision Ladder", "we", "us" or "our" in these Terms mean the legal entity operating the Revision Ladder platform.
3. What Revision Ladder provides
Revision Ladder provides online educational resources designed to support learning and revision.
Depending on the learner's education stage and subscription, features may include revision materials, flashcards, quizzes, practice questions, mock tests, study planning, progress tracking, personalised recommendations, achievements and parent progress reports.
Revision Ladder may adapt future learning activities according to a learner's previous answers and performance.
For example, where a learner answers a question incorrectly or appears to need more practice in a topic, the platform may bring that topic or similar questions back into later quizzes, practice sessions or revision activities.
This is intended to give learners repeated opportunities to practise and strengthen their understanding.
4. Revision Ladder supports education; it does not replace it
Revision Ladder is intended to support and supplement learning.
It does not replace school teaching, formal education, qualified tuition or advice from a teacher or other education professional.
We aim to provide accurate and useful educational material, but no educational platform can guarantee that every explanation, question or answer will be error-free.
Revision Ladder does not guarantee any particular examination result, grade, school placement, university offer, qualification or other educational outcome.
Learners should raise important questions about their curriculum, examination requirements or assessed work with their school, college, university, tutor or relevant awarding body.
5. Accounts
You must provide accurate information when creating an adult account.
You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and must not knowingly allow an unauthorised person to use your account.
Please contact us promptly if you believe someone has accessed your account without permission.
An account is personal to the registered account holder unless the subscription expressly allows multiple users or learner profiles.
You must not sell, transfer or commercially share access to your account.
6. Children and learner profiles
We have designed Revision Ladder to minimise the personal information we request about children.
A parent or carer creating a learner profile must use an alias or nickname rather than the child's full or real name.
Please do not enter a child's real name, personal email address, telephone number, home address, exact date of birth, school address or other unnecessary identifying information into learner profile fields, free-text areas or other parts of Revision Ladder unless we specifically tell you that the information is required.
We do not require a personal photograph of a child. Learners may instead select an avatar where that feature is available.
A child under 18 must use Revision Ladder with the involvement, permission or supervision of a parent, guardian or other responsible adult where required.
The adult account holder remains responsible for managing the child's profile and use of the service.
7. Parent involvement
Revision Ladder is designed so parents can take an active role in their child's learning.
Depending on the subscription, a parent may be able to see their learner's study activity, topics attempted, progress, quiz results, areas of strength, areas needing further practice and upcoming work.
Revision Ladder may also provide weekly or periodic reports to help parents understand what their learner has been working on and how they are progressing.
Progress information is intended as a learning aid. It should not be treated as an official school assessment, predicted grade or formal academic report.
8. Educator accounts
Where Revision Ladder offers educator, tutor or school accounts, the educator is responsible for ensuring that they have appropriate authority to create or manage learner access.
Educators must minimise the personal information they enter about children and should use learner aliases, reference names or identifiers wherever reasonably possible.
An educator must not upload confidential school records, safeguarding information, special-category personal data or other sensitive information unless Revision Ladder has expressly agreed that the platform is designed to receive that information.
Additional terms may apply to institutional, school or business subscriptions.
9. Free trials
Some plans may include a free trial.
The duration and features of the trial will be shown before you start it.
If a free trial will automatically convert into a paid subscription, we will tell you clearly before you agree to the trial:
the length of the trial, the price that will apply afterwards, when payment will be taken and how to cancel.
You can cancel a free trial before it converts to a paid subscription using the cancellation method shown in your account or at sign-up.
We may restrict repeated free trials by the same person or household where reasonably necessary to prevent misuse.
10. Paid subscriptions
Revision Ladder may offer monthly, annual or other subscription options.
The price, billing frequency, main features and duration of the plan will be displayed before you purchase it.
Unless a plan is expressly described as a fixed-term subscription that ends automatically, paid subscriptions will normally renew at the end of each billing period until cancelled.
By purchasing a recurring subscription, you authorise our payment provider or us to take the stated subscription payment on each renewal date until the subscription is cancelled.
We will provide any renewal or reminder notices required by applicable law.
11. Family subscriptions
Where a Family Plan permits several learner profiles, the maximum number of profiles will be displayed when the subscription is purchased.
Each learner should have their own profile.
Learning history, results, recommendations and progress for one learner should not intentionally be recorded against another learner's profile.
The adult account holder is responsible for managing the profiles linked to the Family Plan.
Unused learner-profile spaces have no cash value and cannot be transferred separately from the subscription.
12. Changes to subscription prices
We may change subscription prices from time to time.
A price change will not retrospectively change an amount you have already paid.
Where a change affects a future renewal, we will provide reasonable notice before the new price is charged.
If you do not wish to continue at the new price, you can cancel the subscription before the new price takes effect.
13. Your right to cancel after purchasing online
Where UK consumer law gives you a cooling-off right, you will generally have 14 days from entering into the contract to cancel.
Where you ask us to begin providing paid services or digital content immediately during the cooling-off period, we may ask for any express consent or acknowledgement required by law before access begins.
If you exercise a statutory cancellation right, we will provide any refund to which you are legally entitled.
Nothing in these Terms removes or restricts your statutory cancellation rights.
14. Cancelling your subscription
You can stop future subscription renewals using the cancellation option available through your account or by contacting us where an account-based cancellation facility is unavailable.
We will not deliberately make cancellation more difficult than joining.
Unless you have another statutory or contractual right to a refund, cancelling after the cooling-off period normally stops the next renewal rather than ending access immediately.
You can normally continue using the paid features until the end of the subscription period you have already paid for.
Cancellation does not automatically entitle you to a refund for an unused portion of a current billing period unless applicable law requires one or we have specifically agreed otherwise.
15. Refunds and problems with the service
Your statutory rights apply to Revision Ladder.
If paid digital content or services are faulty, not as described or otherwise fail to meet standards required by UK consumer law, you may have legal rights to a repair, replacement, repeat performance, price reduction or refund depending on the circumstances.
If Revision Ladder permanently withdraws a paid service during a prepaid subscription period for reasons unrelated to a breach by you, we will provide an appropriate refund for the unused part of the service where required or where it is fair to do so.
Please contact admin@revisionladder.co.uk if you believe you are entitled to a refund.
16. Payments
Payments may be processed by a third-party payment provider.
Revision Ladder does not need to receive or store your complete debit or credit card number where payment is processed directly by the payment provider.
You are responsible for keeping your payment details up to date.
If a recurring payment fails, we may contact you and retry the payment.
We may suspend paid features if payment remains outstanding after reasonable notice.
17. Educational personalisation
Revision Ladder may use a learner's previous activity to personalise future learning.
This may include identifying questions answered incorrectly, topics that appear difficult, content already mastered and areas where further practice may be helpful.
A question answered incorrectly may therefore appear again later.
Similar questions may also be used to check whether the learner has understood the underlying concept rather than simply memorised an answer.
This adaptive approach forms part of Revision Ladder's educational service.
It does not amount to a formal academic assessment or guarantee that the learner has mastered a curriculum topic.
18. Artificial intelligence and automated features
Revision Ladder may use automated systems or artificial intelligence to support features such as explanations, question generation, recommendations, hints or feedback.
Where these systems are used, their output may occasionally be incomplete or incorrect.
Learners should not rely on automatically generated content for high-stakes decisions without checking it against appropriate educational sources or discussing it with a teacher, lecturer, tutor or other suitable person.
You must not intentionally enter unnecessary personal information about a child into an AI prompt or free-text learning tool.
More information about how personal information is handled is available in our Privacy Notice.
19. Acceptable use
You must use Revision Ladder lawfully and for its intended educational purposes.
You must not misuse the platform by attempting to gain unauthorised access to another person's account, bypassing subscription controls, disrupting the service, uploading malicious code, using automated tools to scrape or bulk-download content, copying substantial parts of Revision Ladder to create a competing service, reverse-engineering protected parts of the platform, using the service for fraud or unlawful activity, or uploading content that is abusive, threatening, discriminatory, sexually explicit, illegal or infringes another person's rights.
You must also not intentionally submit personal or sensitive information about another person where it is unnecessary for the learning activity.
We may investigate suspected misuse and take reasonable action to protect learners, users and the platform.
20. Intellectual property
Revision Ladder and its licensors own or have permission to use the intellectual property rights in the platform and its content, including its design, software, branding, illustrations, questions, revision materials, explanations, quizzes, graphics, videos, audio and other learning resources.
Your subscription gives you a limited, personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable right to access and use the content for private educational purposes during the period in which you are entitled to access it.
You may print or download resources where Revision Ladder specifically provides that function.
You may not reproduce, sell, license, distribute, publish or commercially exploit Revision Ladder content without our written permission.
Teachers and educators may use resources with their authorised learners to the extent permitted by their subscription.
21. Content you provide
You remain responsible for information or material that you choose to submit to Revision Ladder.
You confirm that you have the right to provide that material and that doing so does not infringe another person's rights.
You give us permission to process information you submit where this is necessary to operate Revision Ladder, provide learning activities, maintain records, generate reports, provide support and comply with legal obligations.
Our handling of personal information is governed by our Privacy Notice.
22. Availability of Revision Ladder
We aim to keep Revision Ladder available and functioning reliably, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access at all times.
The service may occasionally be unavailable because of maintenance, updates, internet failures, security work or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
Where reasonably possible, we will try to minimise disruption.
Short periods of ordinary maintenance or technical downtime do not automatically entitle a user to a refund.
This does not affect your statutory rights where the service fails to meet legal requirements.
23. Changes to Revision Ladder
We may update features, learning content, layouts and functionality to improve the service, correct errors, respond to curriculum changes, protect security or comply with law.
We will not intentionally remove a substantial part of a paid subscription without good reason.
If we make a significant change that materially disadvantages a consumer during a paid subscription period, we will provide appropriate notice and any cancellation or refund rights required by law.
24. Suspending or closing an account
We may temporarily restrict or suspend access where we reasonably believe this is necessary because of a security risk, unpaid subscription, serious misuse, attempted fraud, infringement of intellectual property rights or a material breach of these Terms.
Where appropriate, we will explain the reason and give you a reasonable opportunity to resolve the issue.
We may close an account for a serious or repeated breach of these Terms.
If we close a paid account without fault on your part, we will refund any appropriate unused prepaid amount.
25. Closing your own account
An adult account holder may request closure of their account.
Closing an account is different from simply cancelling automatic renewal, so please ensure you select the appropriate option.
Closing an account may lead to deletion or anonymisation of learner profiles, progress information and account information in accordance with our Privacy Notice and retention periods.
Once information has been permanently deleted, we may not be able to restore it.
26. Links and third-party services
Revision Ladder may contain links to third-party websites or integrate with third-party services.
We do not control third-party websites, and their own terms and privacy policies will apply.
A link does not necessarily mean that Revision Ladder endorses everything available through that third party.
27. Our responsibility to you
We are responsible for losses that are a foreseeable result of our breach of these Terms or our failure to use reasonable care and skill.
We are not responsible for losses that were not foreseeable when the contract was made.
Revision Ladder is supplied for personal and educational use unless you have purchased an educator or commercial plan.
We are not responsible for business losses suffered by a consumer using a personal subscription for commercial purposes.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
Nothing in these Terms restricts your statutory consumer rights.
28. Privacy
Our Privacy Notice explains how we collect, use, protect and retain personal information.
We take a data-minimisation approach to children's information and ask parents and carers to use an alias or nickname rather than a child's real name when creating a learner profile.
By using Revision Ladder, you should ensure that you have also read the Privacy Notice.
29. Complaints
If something goes wrong, please contact:
We will aim to investigate complaints fairly and respond within a reasonable period.
If you are a consumer and remain dissatisfied after we give our final response, we will tell you about any relevant alternative dispute resolution or other dispute-resolution arrangement available to you where we are required to do so.
You may also seek independent advice about your consumer rights.
30. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms where reasonably necessary because of changes to Revision Ladder, law, regulation, security requirements or our business.
We will not use this right to remove accrued consumer rights.
Where a material change affects an existing paid subscription, we will provide reasonable notice where appropriate.
The date at the top of the Terms shows when they were last updated.
31. If part of these Terms is invalid
If a court or other competent authority decides that part of these Terms is unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining terms will continue to apply.
Any unlawful provision will apply only to the extent permitted by law.
32. No waiver
If we do not immediately enforce a right under these Terms, that does not mean we have given up that right.
33. Transfer of these Terms
You may not transfer your subscription or contractual rights to another person without our agreement.
We may transfer our rights and obligations to another organisation, for example following a business sale or restructuring, provided this does not reduce your rights under the contract.
We will notify you where required.
34. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you also retain any mandatory legal protections that apply where you live.
Consumers may bring proceedings in the courts available to them under applicable law.
