What your child can practise in KS3

English
Reading, grammar, punctuation and spelling, with audio support for spelling practice.
English Language and Literature
Persuasive and formal writing, structuring essays, Shakespeare, poetry and nineteenth-century fiction, with feedback on writing accuracy, style and how much detail they give.
Word types and techniques
Noun types, tense, active and passive verbs, modifiers, and the techniques writers use, from metaphor and juxtaposition to irony and the rule of three.

History and Geography
From the Norman Conquest to the Cold War, plus plate tectonics, climate change, rivers, coasts and development.
Religious Education, Computing and French
Computing covers binary, algorithms, networks, cyber security and programming concepts including functions, data structures and debugging. French revision covers vocabulary, grammar, present, past and future time frames, translation and connected responses; it supports rather than replaces live speaking and listening practice.
Citizenship
Democracy, Parliament and elections, law and the justice system, rights and responsibilities, public institutions, volunteering, budgeting and managing financial risk — taught neutrally through evidence-based revision questions.
Practice that focuses on what your child finds hard
Most quizzes show a child what they already know. Revision Ladder is built around the opposite. When a question goes wrong, that topic does not disappear: it returns in future practice, quizzes and revision activities, so your child gets repeated chances to strengthen their understanding and eventually get it right.
Close the gaps early
Small gaps in Year 7 to 9 become big problems at GCSE. Regular practice that returns to weak spots helps them get fixed while there is time.
Works at their pace
Questions adapt to your child, so there is stretch when something is easy and support when it is not.
Independent but visible
Teenagers practise on their own while you can still see what they have been working on and where they need support.
How it works
- You set up the account in about a minute. Parents hold the account.
- Add your child with a nickname and their stage. No other personal details are needed.
- A short starter activity finds their level, then practice adapts as they go.
- You see what they have been working on and where they could use more support.
